All too often it seems that eco-friendly accessories are made abroad, so it’s refreshing to see new American label Vere creating green flip flops in the US of A.
The beach shoes feature local recycled nylon webbing, naturally dyed chrome-free leather, and EVA foam soles with a recycled component. Some green warriors may argue that any product using leather can never truly be eco-friendly, but Vere disagrees. It uses chrome-free skins so any waste can be ground and used in fertilizer by local farmers. In an ideal world we wouldn’t be slaughtering animals for fashion, but at least the waste is used well here.
I love bikinis. My favorite place to shop for bikinis is Amazon. You'll find on Amazon a great variety of high quality bikinis. Many of them from recognized brands.
There's one that has become my favorite, which is the ESONLAR Women's Sexy Plunging V Neck Bathing Suit. Mainly because it feels so smooth and soft and how well it flatters the body.
But there's 2 other ones that are great alternatives, the HYPERFIRE Women's Sexy Criss Cross Halter Bathing Suit and the CUPSHE Women's One Piece Swimsuit Sexy Deep V Neck Bathing Suit.
Vere also defends its uses of EVA, otherwise known as ethylene vinyl acetate.
“At the end of the day, it is still made of EVA, but we use recycled nylon in our straps and recycled content in our EVA,” explained Vere founder John Eades. “Our goal is to eliminate as much waste in the production process as possible. We do that by buying EVA cut to size and by shape, and then our EVA supplier recycles scraps and puts that into future materials.“
It’s not an ideal situation, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction. At least Vere is conscious of its carbon footprint, which is more than we can say for many beach labels. Vere flip flops for men and women will hit stores later this month. You can expect to pay between $25 and $50 for a pair.
