I worried that a swim top with such a brash name could be as tacky as cougars tend to be. However Lisa Vogel’s shown remarkable restraint here. Her Cougarette is sexy without being scandalous.

The animal print that so often covers the clothes of cougars is there, but its presence never takes over the design. It’s restricted to the bust portion of the tankini, and rendered in feathery watercolor style which softens the spots.
Rather than showing plenty of skin Lisa Vogel opts to tease, with a keyhole in the back showing just enough to titillate. Chic tortoise shell detailing turns the simple blue shoestring straps into works of art. The workmanship is also first class, as we’d expect from any American made swimsuit.
I’m not sure the Cougarette will appeal to women on the prowl. It’s not figure hugging, and it doesn’t really enhance a woman’s natural assets. Padded cups and a more form-fitting design would have made all the difference here. But it is a stylish and original tankini style swim top, and that makes it worth its relatively affordable $95 bottom line.
